Blue cloud long skirt
This is the very first piece made with traditional Han hand dyed cloth. Usually we design and make pieces with ethnic hand loomed cloth ordered from rural China thousands miles away. Have neglected the truly beautiful fabric made by our ancestors. It is from a water village, where my family rooted. I have been there in spring when I was four. In my memory, it is a beautiful old village on water, surrounded by mountains full of flowers. Major traffic is boats. I still remember my relative brother and sister gave me a bunch of flowers, it was hung under the grey tiled eaves and my mum forgot to take it with us when we left. I don’t speak the dialect, but I can feel the fabric is speaking to me in the dialect which I can understand like mother tongue… more
